For years I have been saying that Martin Jay should stop acting like a Trini and be proud of his roots.
I know he is married to a Trini but oh gosh stop acting like you are one.
I know he not going to like it but it time he faces up to the truth, love our music and culture but also be proud of your own ;D

Haha! Otis boy yuh just get banned from all them fete and dem..lol...you know how it is in London ...don't forgive and forget!!.
But Seriously from what I understand he became Director of the Events arm of Poison UK brand after making a signifcant financial investments into the organisation. I think it's a natural progression after his long association with the Poison UK brand.
The risk for Poison UK will be the recation of the paying party going public as Martin Jay "the DJ" is perceived by some as inflexible when it comes to change and his views against "too much fast paced" tunes being playing in parties are well documented. Just last night in a radio interview from Grenada on Choice FM he was heard saying that the Caribbean public are now saying no the fast paced music and giving their full support for the "Groovy Soca Tues" an interesting point of view in light of the populatiry of artist like Macheal, Ricky T (St Lucia) and Lil Rick (Bim).
Personally i want Martin to succeed, I like him and for what he has done historacially in promoting caribbean culture across the world, and I mean all soca culture, from all islands. Because in London it's not who trini fete and who supporting other island fete, it just about de lime and one culture.
And if I was important enough for Mr Martin Jay to listen to my advice. I would say to him listen to what de people saying in the fete, we work hard all week and we looking to dance - not chip. Lastly, try not to blacklist people who have a different point of view to yours. It a small world and dem other promoters like babash, Soca Cartel and Mention confident and now hot on your tail.
lol..and Otis don't worry about getting banned.. you playing u're part too.

Now sometimes the way I speak sounds like I hate some one but its not true.
Hope Mr Martin does not think I'm against him. Quite the opposite , I admire and revere the work he has done in the Soca Industry in The UK.
However, Just like when I first came many years ago I find that personal identity is as important as regional identity i.e if you are essentially a American company you make an effort to hire and fire within your own foreign American group or pool of workers thus balancing the effect of the brain drain and keeping that guaranteed Niche style that has made your company famous
However I did not know about the large financial investment .
Which sadly means that those individuals who originally formed poison have moved on and tthe group is not the same fun poison with Wendell and Roddy and the red gal ...the fun kinda family feeling
Makes me sad to see the demise of the T&T crew.
Lastly how come the T&T Carnival and calypso / soca / Rapso culture is growing in the US and not growing as much in the UK. We need to promote it more and not leave it in the hands of those who see it as a cash cow for their own personal initiatives.
Thats my little grouse
