i missing home soo soo bad .....this is my first year here and i really dont know if i can cope with it anymore..sometimes i feel like i could just buy a plane ticket and give up and go back in the sun yes... It does really make you think ppl leave trinbago going foriegn etc and never once go back...impossible!!! but what i would like to know is life in the uk worst than it is in usa? for some reason ppl who went to the usa seem happier??? any opinions???

Welcome to trinisinlondon family. Your 1st christmas here! embrace the experience and the difference to a trini christmas. 1) it is cold real cold. No snow in London yet, but when it snows its nice to look at and walk in but a nightmare to drive in. When i first saw snow i catch some in a bottle and tried to keep it, to post to friends in trini lol! Stupid trini lol.
2) It is also about the party season going to different bars and work function.
3) Oh yer excessive shopping for meaningless gifts (worldwide).
4) Lots and lots of eating. Being with family and friends.
People in usa do seem happier, but to me they are most boastful. Alot of people are working more than two jobs and do get less holiday than us/ 5 days, have to pay for healthcare. The reason some people do not go back home, is when they go back to trinbago they want to show they have gained education and wealth by going foreign if they are unable to show some sort of personal improvement they maybe reluctant to go back trinbago and see family friends that have improved their status and stayed at trinbago. Most importantly alot of people also have visa restrictions, which prevent them travelling.
Kswiss dont get depressed do things that make you happy and do as much as you used to do back home.
What i do to get in a trini christmas mood is go online to trini radio stations and play my parang real loud, dance round d house, cook pastel, make sorrel, clack cake, clean d house change curtain etc.
Have d family over or go round family members and friends and have a true trini christmas in d cold. Then cross out d days for carnival...5 weeks ent! lol Have a lovely christmas and prosperous new year. Sorry reply so long, but my first christmas here i cried alot and i wished there was a site like this to tell me where trini fetes are or just what going on.

Hi kswiss I hope everything worked out for you. I am going through the sadness and the loneliness at the moment...but i want to try to stay and fight it through! With time i believe it will get easier.
I hope your christmas was good and you found your strength to stay.
