ok yuh know ah does get buff when ah talk too much ok... so ah have to do this From S.W.I.M Someone who isnt me Well poison under strain...the Rotterdam ting is ah sure ting but carnival start to change People gettin bored as cheap costumes from china is what fellas bringin. No creativity plus the band leaders and nottinghill carnival commission say too much t shirt so rules change for bands ...Yuh have to have about 50 to 75 masqueraders to have a t shirt section and poison last year has 50 masqueraders and bout 500 t shirts in different sections an since yuh calling talk ah see yuh sponsor bacchanal mas ok well Yuh eh want tuh sponsor a truck with otis and rueben ... anyway ah straying so basically Roddy gone back to himself Lagniappe...big band long time ..go be real big dis year too real big ... ah see de costumes bird sanctuary...feathers and bikini in red an ting hmm it looking good for the woman and dem ...but if yuh skinny .... Anyway bands looking good all over poisin ...hmm they coming but is not de same de original crew goin trinipulse uk, bacanal mas , mangrove...but if morris roots could save dem dis year then they could afford the £7000 bill for the trucks and \£400 bill for security but ah never say nutin like obama say plenty could happen between now and elections...

Whappan Otis like Roddy promise you a free costume or wot? I fine this year you promoting Lagniappe more than Poison. I do like the band and Roddy.
But to be honest last year and year before i had a ball with poison. Lagniappe Band launch and after work lime - had a certain boujois to it. Like some of the people were frightened to whine or even chip. They were so stiff i could of swear i was in Madam Tussauds.
To design and make a costume takes money time etc. People are not willing to pay high cost for mas in England like in Trinidad with guaranteed heat. I suppose we will stretch to a £100/£150 with drinks all the way. SO you can't blame the man(Poison) for looking to China to get Cheap costumes.
If Trinidadians stop running their mouth and get their hand working, the culture can stay in the community. We can learn from mas makers and teach our children.
Alternatively we can continue buying cheap teashirts or bikini from Primark, put a rhinestone and say we are a band. Come on Trinis come better than dat.
What happen to your teashirt band that you had last year, allyuh pack up already?? I thought you were going to do a full costume. Leh meh know.
I ent causing comess.. Just believe in having a wide range of bands to choose from, cause currently we only running to the band of the moment (One minute cockyea, masquerade, poison etc) and the culture suffering. Caribana and Labour Day going strong but Notting Hill losing momentum. Like Ken Livingstone buying allyuh votes to support his aim to get mas off the streets..
I will welcome allyuh response.

Oits I ent sponser any band yet.. I am looking at 3 sponsership proposals, but I wont make a decsion until June. If I do, it wont be for exposure but more for de culture. I mention Bacanal Mas becuase like you dem fellas thinking about de big picture and not de politcs.
Like you, I hear Trini Scene putting together a few independent bands under one banner.
Let me put u on de spot Otis..Do you think it is a good idea for anyone to put down a deposit to go Holland Carnival with Poison when they struggling so?

The Holland trip is an easy way to move as a posse but if it could be organised differently others would have done it already.
So they will still have a big rank in holland as the english trini band ...I would go....

Can I suggest a different approach to our culture here in the UK??
By all means promote your band here on de site...say nice things about the band you're in and make constructive criticisms of the costumes you think might not suit you.
But PLEASE PLEASE!! Don’t come and in the forum and run down the efforts and the long hours being made by other bands, who like you trying to keep the culture alive. Rise above that old fashioned attitude of bad talking competing bands just because u working with a different band.
* Not affiliated with any band, just looking forward to de bacchanal*

I agree we should appreciate the time and effort bands are making to keep up our culture.
